Flash sucks donkey ass. That’s right, I said it. You can do incredible things with flash, nobody denies that, but when it comes down to search engine optimization it suddenly becomes your worst nightmare. Creating websites and blogs in flash is useless and stupid because browsers are ment to process .html (and other extensions) code and not flash. They’ve been built to display text and not video, they’re not video players - they’re text browsers. Remember that.
Don’t ignore web standards. If you want to attract visitors you must optimize your blog for search engines and this is not going to be an easy job if you run your blog in flash. If you want search engines to like your blog it must load fast and have readable content which is not the case with flash-based blogs because when a search engine crawls your blog it searches for keywords and it can’t find any on a flash site. Everything you can do is include hidden text on your blog but this will get you banned on major search engines. Google, Yahoo, MSN and others won’t index your flash-made blog so how are you going to get traffic? By spending thousands of dollars on advertising?
Think twice before you design a blog/site and plan for future not for today.

How come I didn’t know that? I used to have a website made in flash. Luckily I wasn’t in for money :).
Don’t forget that almost all the famous artists etc. have their sites made in flash. But I suppose that a domain like www.eminem.com doesn’t need any SEO

I didn’t say it’s impossible.
There is a trick where you insert a flash movie with javascript and input content within a “flashcontent” area so search engines will ignore the flash movie and index only text you specify.
This is a pain in the neck and you can’t achieve results anywhere near you could with plain html/php website but you can run a flash site if you a) don’t care or b) you’re a blue chip company :).
