Guess what, it doesn’t matter. You can’t compete with Problogger, John Chow or Guy Kawasaki and you really shouldn’t because looking up to them and copying their style is the worst you can do. Don’t care about them, you don’t blog for John Chow, you blog for your readers and that’s what counts. Many people think they’re too late to join the game when starting a blog but they’re all wrong. You have many doors opened and it’s all up to you whether you will succeed or not because there are enough readers on the internet, even for a niche that has been re-invented a million times, seeking information you may provide, especially if you take different approach as your competition.

If you’re really passionate about the subject and you know what you’re talking about - start now. Don’t wait because every day you spend thinking and not working you loose potential readers. People are different and they all have different needs and Problogger can’t satisfy them all. This is where you come in. Stand out from the crowd and be unique. Don’t listen to others telling you how should you behave, how should you write or when should you write. Screw them! They don’t run your blog, you do.

Start thinking like a successful blogger and you will become one. Motivate yourself every day and try to be the best, work hard and your effort will be payed. Don’t think too much, just do it. Start from this moment because time flies and you don’t want to be looking back next year thinking “dammit, it’s been a year around and I could have an established blog by now”. If you need motivation, look at bloggers who make a lot of money and try to outblog them. They’re not immortal and their farts stink just like yours so don’t ever think like “I can’t do this, I’ll never be as good as them”, this is how loosers think and you don’t want to be a looser, don’t you? You should be convinced you can do better than them and be willing to rip them apart. Don’t be scared, be aggresive. Be yourself, be the best.

  3. So true, word up. It’s a sad fact that many people still think of blogs as diaries.

  4. Blog is much more than a diary :). Thanks for commenting.

  5. I don’t think you can even copy their style, cause every blog is different and has a little part of the blogger’s personality in it.

About your post, i have one tiny advice for the new bloggers: please be sure you have something to say before starting blogging. Oh, and don’t build a MFA. Hmm, that makes them two now…

  6. I agree with mike, MFA blogs are the bottom of the blog society. People running MFA don’t care about having anything to say but their primary goal is to make quick money. Lame.

  7. And they are not even going to acheive that of course. Making the fast money that is :)

  8. The reason why I’m angry with MFA sites is because they put the black spot on websites that run ads and actually have something to offer to their visitors. I don’t mind if you make 100,000$ a month but content first, ads second.
