This topic has gone hot since they invented online advertising and I keep getting asked for an opinion why people don’t click on ads(?). To be able to answer this question you would have to get into the mind of a visitors, that is yourself. Remember that you’re not just a blogger, entrepeneur or a webmaster, you’re also a visitor, reader and a guest. You’re just a regular surfer like those people who visit your website and if you wonder why they don’t click on your ads you better ask yourself the same question - Do I click on ads?
Well do you? Are you that generous and give away free clicks or are you a cheap bastard who doesn’t want others to make money? Think about it and perhaps you’ll find out why people don’t click on your ads. As far as I know there a three types of so-called clickers:
1. People who click on any adverts in order to support the author
2. People who click on adverts that provide solution to their problem
3. People who don’t click on adverts no matter what
Besides them there are also three types of people online:
1. People who make money
2. People who would like to make money but they fail
3. People who have no interest making money
Most people could be put to the third category one the first list because they belong to the second category on the second list. People who would like to makey money online but fail will almost never ever click on your ads because their mentality is “I won’t let others make money on me” so don’t expect any clicks from them. They rather die than to click on your AdSense link.
Then the second group from the first list probably don’t click on your ads because you didn’t optimize them enough and they’re not showing relevant content. Why would anyone want to click on “guaranteed 100,000$ month doing nothing” while surfing a website about SEO techniques? There are some people who are interested in that but the number of those is not worth mentioning. If your ads are content related then your visitors are probably not interested in what your ad provider has to offer.
Finaly to the third group, generous people who will click on anything because they know they support the author by doing it. I can’t say I approve that because this is kind of cheating although you have no idea about it whatsoever. There are very few people on the internet who will do this so don’t rely on that.
What you need to do it build quality content, pump up your traffic, optimize your ads and hope the mentality of people is going to change in the future. Now for the end, tell me which group do you belong to?
