We all predicted PageRank Update to occur somewhere between the last week of July and in the beginning of August and we were all wrong. There was no voice of the Update since then and people started to spread stories, all kinds of stories. DigitalPoint became full of annoying people opening threads every 15min about the PR and the whole forum got spammed as an abandoned blogspot blog.
I think people at Google felt sorry for DigitalPoint and send Matt Cutts to let us knowl: “As far as the toolbar PageRank, I definitely wouldn’t expect to see it in the next few days. Probably not even in the next couple weeks, if I had to guess.” There you have it. Matt Cutts himself said you shouldn’t expect a PR Update soon so please and for the sake of all forum mods, STOP POSTING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PAGERANK UPDATE. I hope this will end all speculations and give you a better idea of when it’s finally going to happen.
As you could see SERPs bouncing around you could figure Google is probably working on their new and improved algorithm that will cut the SERPs affected by paid links and sort websites that bought PR from those that actually earned it. Google is very good at what they do and they probably want to test the new algorithm thoroughly before they release it to the public so don’t worry about PageRank, there will be an update just not as soon as you thought it would.
Matt Cutts: Don\’t Expect PageRank Update Any Soon…

Daniel,i can no longer wait for the update.i am waiting for a good pagerank.

You should care more about traffic rather than about PageRank. We’re all waiting for a PR Update but looks like some people are going crazy over the delay.
PR is overrated unless you run a paid directory. There are so many other things you should worry about.
Thank you for letting us know. Now I can pass the info on.
This is a bad news for them that trickily implement the strategy of PR improvement that known by all SEO masters. This is also a bad news for people who promote TLA. A good news for people who play fair.
There’s a lot movement in SERP’s currently - and I saw a lot of competitors going to google hell last couple of weeks. One of my sites also fell from about 500 visitors/day to 15! That site was promoted by a “link farm”.
So, to me it seems like Google is dramatically improving their “Anti SE-Spam” algorithms.
Good for real content, bad for content spamers.
But anyway the PR is very less important than it was about two years ago. Follow Daniel’s advice - watch your traffic (or equal - your SERP position).
Last year it happened around October and I think it’ll happen there again. They usually keep a loose schedule but generally it around the same time give or take a few weeks.

No problem Rose, I hope it will at least decrease the number of useless threads on DP :D.
This is actually bad news for everybody who gambled Google (you can’t gamble it afterall
) and many people will experience a big drop in SERPs. Looks like SEO and paid links are the enemy of Google. We’ll see.
Don’t Expect PageRank Update Any Soon…
Matt Cutts posted a message on Digital Points forum about the toolbar page rank update. “As far as the toolbar PageRank, I definitely wouldn’t expect to see it in the next few days. Probably not even in the next couple weeks, if I had to guess.
?????? ?? ??????? ?? PR?

Sorry, I don’t understand russian.
Thanks for update for those who are worrying about it ![]()
Hope it’s gonna keep those spammers and newbies away from posting a new pr thread all the time.

Looks like it’s not working that well :).
This bites.. I’ve been trying to sell advertising on another one of my sites, and all prospects point to our low PR (4) and use that as a basis for their decision. I give them cold hard facts (traffic stats, etc), but people still cling to PR and Alexa Rankings over all else. ![]()

That’s because PR is overrated. I know of sites with high PR and low traffic. I can set up a website with zero traffic, no content and get a PR 5 by buying PR7 links.
Estimating ad value by PR is stupid. Traffic is all that counts.
Some online cash activities are affected when you have a low PR.For instance, at PayPerPost, a high page rank will give you lots and more lucrative opportunities. This creates a need to update PR now now or else it must not be not be used to judge the worthiness of a site.
It’s been a long wait this time, especially those new bloggers are impatient.

The rumour has it it’s going to happen this weekend but then again, how many rumours did we have this quarter?
September 21, 2007
My question if google is going to hurt a website for paid links then won’t people buy links for the competition?? I think google is smarter than that…
Daniel,
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I feel that something will eventually take PR’s place. As the web continues to grow, so will the fight for the top rankings. If we call them “page” ranks or something else. There has to be something to strive for.
September 21, 2007
Google is very smart and they know what they’re doing. PageRank will never die simply because it’s one of the top Google marketing tools, the only thing that’s going to change is the algorithm.
Thanks for update for those who are worrying about it.
In Ukraine - it is the most problem in the SEO.
September 25, 2007
What do you mean Sergey? Is SEO like a general issues over ther? Tight competition in Ukraine?
I dont think the PR update makes any difference. Who cares, you can see all you need to know using Webmaster Central. It gives you a good idea in there what rank you are.
I laugh at everyone who says “Who Cares”? about pagerank. That is such bull and they are just repeating what others have said to be “macho” in a “I know everything” kind of way. The bottom line is, that’s like going to school and not knowing what your grades are.
Everyone wants to know what their pagerank really is. Face it, it’s a grade.
If this macho guy or girl has a pagerank of 5 and the toolbars get updated and they drop to a 4, you don’t think they’d be concerned?
If they really didn’t care they wouldn’t look at it. I guarantee they have the Google Toolbar installed to see.
Mike A you can see your “grades” by how simplying doing a search on some keywords you’ve targeted.
PageRank is more acustom to seeing how many gold stars a teacher gives you rather than actual grades.
Yes we all hav a google toolbar installed, we like goldstars. Doesnt mean we cant see the pagerank in the webmaster central. and webmaster centrals pagerank seems to update itself on a monthly basis

i have seen changes in my PR and its is true to say that the google system is now updating, at http://www.googlebugs.com there are results and stats that show this has happened.
thanks
