One more blog closed its doors to the blogosphere. Almost every day I hear about blogs getting shut down and this time it’s Nick Ramsay’s blog Nice4Rice.com. It’s a shame his blog didn’t last longer but this is how it is when the competition is tough and you lack motivation.

I would only write something once or twice a week, but it would usually take me hours to make each post, and I’d be thinking about what to write for days. In fact, compared to niche websites, it’s so much harder to monetize a blog - at least in my experience.

Looks like Nick had some problems writing content for his blog and this is very often among bloggers but once you start posting once a week you know it’s either time for retirement or time for some major change. Lack of ideas and no revenue can get you down or even depressed when you put everything you’ve got into your blog and you see no results, that’s why you need to ask yourself few questions at the very beginning of your career as a blogger, like “Why do I want to blog?”. Find out what is it you really want, follow that answer and build from there.

Passion is very important when it comes to blogging because when you’re passionate enough about something you won’t have problems finding topics for your blog. That’s why you need to look at your blog as a privilege and not as an obligation. Think of it as something you love to do and not something you have to do.

Well, one star dies and another is born. You can’t help Nick anymore because he definetly made his mind, and he’s going to devote more time to his other projects, so look at the whole thing from a bright side, more market for you. Whether you like it or not, someone’s loss is your gain and this is all pure business. No pain no game.
