Yesterday, Kevin Rose - founder of Digg social bookmarking service - announced a three-year partnership deal with Microsoft which is going to replace Google and become the main advertising provider for Digg. This means serving display and contextual ads as well as finding new advertisers. Digg HQ says the deal between two giants is going to improve design and add new features to Digg as well as focus on future developments and some people say Microsoft got the job because of their advertising campaign with Facebook.
Anyway, Digg claims to get 17 million unique visitors per month which means they generate a lot of money from ads so it’s not unusual they’re trying something new but choosing Microsoft over Google when it comes to advertising? I don’t know, afterall Google makes seven times the amount in one quarter Microsoft does. I think that speaks for itself but who knows what’s going on in the great mind of Kevin Rose. Sure we won’t see dancing monkey anymore but we’ll get bunch of flying xboxes instead which is pretty the same.
Kevin, if you didn’t like dancing monkeys why in the world you didn’t install AdBlock?

If you’ve ever worked w/ Google though, they kinda act like their sh*t don’t stink. I think ms will be a ton easier to work with.

Perhaps you’re right but do you choose partners by their behaviour or by their effectivness? If I had a blog with 17mil unique visitors/day I’d rather choose someone who’s efficient.
why ppl like you dont except changes, okay google is earning more than microsoft but that doesnt make any sense not to opt Microsoft. If Kevin is getting a fair deal than its good for Digg and their investors……..

If Kevin is getting a fair deal doesn’t mean it’s good for Digg. I don’t mind changes but I’m not sure these changes will make Digg better.
