About

At first I didn’t believe the hype about StumbleUpon but two days ago I started playing and experimenting with this social networking website and I realized why everybody’s recommending it. If you hear everything positive about StumbleUpon, believe it because it deserves all the credit it gets.

StumbleUpon is a web browser plugin that allows its users to discover and rate webpages, photos, videos, and news articles. These webpages are typically presented when the user — known within the community as a Stumbler — clicks the “Stumble!” button on the browser’s toolbar.

Start by registering on their homepage, install a toolbar on your favorite browser (IE or Firefox) and activate it. If your blog is not listed yet open yourblog.com and click the thumbs up button. This will open a pop-up window which allows you to categorize your blog, write a short description and tag it with specific keywords. After this your blog will be indexed and whenever someone searches with StumbleUpon your blog will be shown considering your tags are related to keywords the user specified.

What happens here is whenever someone stumbles your blog it gets more popular, more people see it and chances are they will stumble it also so it’s a great tool for driving massive traffic if you have good content. StumbleUpon is different from Digg and Digg-like social bookmarking websites because it drives targeted traffic. You can stumble every post of your blog and you’re not limited to just text, you can stumble pictures and videos also.

StumbleUpon referals make 30% of my overall traffic excluding search engines and this is just withing two days.
