5 Simple Yet Effective Ways To Promote Your Blog And Attract Readers

How do you know what is best way to increase your blog’s traffic? Actually there is no best way, there are many ways and they all complete each other so never rely on one technique only. If you want traffic for your blog you must explore, test and try things on your own because that’s the best way to find out what works for you best and what doesn’t work at all. Allow me to show some simple, yet effective ways to drive traffic to your blog and attract readers.

1. Get deep inside the niche
When you choose a certain subject for your niche you have to know that you have at least a hundred topics more to explore. General discussions are not enough these days because there is too much information covering general niche topics and you must get deeply inside every possible sub-topic and learn about its potential. If I were to choose computer programming as my niche I wouldn’t go jabbering about clean code syntax but instead I would learn as much as I can about it and find out what people are interested in and what they want to read.

2. Add multimedia to your articles

Plain text sucks and you know it. Do you want to read pages of black text on white background with no pictures? I guess not, at least I don’t. When you’re writing an article try to add as much multimedia elements as possible while keeping your post simple and proffesional. Too much addons make your article look stupid and unproffesional so try to keep a balance. Decorate your post with small, simple pictures, use quotes and other elements that make your boring page look interesting. Perhaps you could try to implement podcasts because people like to hear a real human voice once in a while. Use your imagination.

3. Offer full RSS feeds
There’s nothing sweeter than offering a full RSS feed to your readers. People like this. A lot of people read blogs through their favorite RSS reader because they don’t have time to visit each blog every day but they still want to be up to date with your news. RSS readers may not click on your ads but they still play an important roll in your online career as a blogger because they’re valuable and you should be thankful for each and every one of them because you wouldn’t exist without them and it’s better they read your blog through RSS than not read it at all. Remember to protect your feed by including links to your post and your website because of possible content stealers - you can never be too sure with these days MFA websites.

4. Connect with people
Don’t just stand there, talk to people. Whatever you niche may be I bet there are hundreds of blogs related to yours and it’s up to your if you grab the opportunity and invite people over. Try to be among first commentators and write good constructive comments on other people’s blogs and you’ll get tons of visitors. Not just any visitors but targeted visitors. There’s a major difference between these two because one targeted visitor is worth more than ten non-targeted visitors. After blogs use forums, what do you think they’re made for? Forums are one hell of a smart promotion tools because you can get a lot of visitors by posting every day on big niche forums. Start humble and make friends with fellow forumers, you’d be surprised what a good relationship is capable of.

5. Be yourself, be personal
When you write a blog post or an article don’t try to act like you’re all that, try to be yourself. Get as personal as you can while remaining on track and write about how you feel about a certain topic and share your views on a subject. If people would look for boring reports and smart articles written by some smart dude they would probably go after Yahoo, Google, Reuters or New York Times, there would be no need to read your blog. But apparently there is and this is because people are looking for something they can’t find anywhere else. They look for that human voice in your articles that gives them a feeling they’re being treated as people and not robots.

Getting readers is not science fiction but it still can’t be achieved with no work and zero imagination so good luck to you and I hope you pull the best out of my post. If you have something to add please feel free to leave a comment.

if I offer full rss feeds people won’t be coming to my site anymore and then I won’t earn any money which sucks because that’s my goal and if I can’t reach my goals then I shouldn’t be running a site

Toilet69, if that’s your concern, there are services that allow you to put ads in your feed. But that’s not really the point. Of course, money are important, nobody can dumb that, but, for a small site at least, the community is even of greater importance. And determining people to like and your stuff id the first step into creating one :)

I agree that earning money via adsense is just a bonus, the main goal should be visitors but there are people like Toilet69 who put money in the first place. Everybody don’t think alike.
