Search engines change their algorithms repeatedly so it’s essential to be up-to-date with SEO tricks. What we know today could be old news tommorow. I’m not going to talk about step-by-step search engine optimization here but instead I’ll share some SEO tips with you I’ve learned over time.
1. Skip search engine submission - Those times have passed. Link to your blog from related high PR blogs and you’ll get indexed withing hours. Don’t put all your effort in just one search engine.
2. Start SEO immediatly - If you’ve started a new blog don’t wait for traffic or for more posts, start optimizing your blog today so you’ll have something to work with in few months.
3. Stay away from SPAM - Don’t stuff your blog with keywords, don’t use link farms, don’t spam other blogs and don’t buy 35,345 quality links for 9,99$. These optimizations will get you banned from search engines.
4. Make your blog crawlable - Use sitemaps and don’t forget to configure your robots.txt file. Let spiders study your blog hierarchy so indexing can bring maximum results.
5. Study SEO - Search Engine Optimization is not something you can do in one day and forget about it for the rest of your life. Research every bit of SEO tricks and use them best way you can.
Remember to be patient as SEO can take some time to see first results. In the mean time be dedicated and write good unique content for your readers. You know how they say ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and you can’t achieve sky high rankings overnight. Hard work and a lot of time is what you need.

Exactly which is why you need to be up-to-date with new techniques otherwise you’re gone. Darren, your site is not working, by the way.
I agree with not to submit your site to search engine, but using sitemaps is actually the same. It is submission all your urls.
Great post. For the blog part. There are alot of plugins that can help you better optimize your blog.

I agree with you guys that there are plugins that help you optimize your blog better but I’m not much into plugins, I like to do the work myself
