5 On-Site SEO Tips

Search Engine Optimization doesn’t mean buying high PR links only, it’s also little things that are usualy forgotten because bloggers take them for granted. I’ll list some tips here that will give you extra boost and help to optimize your blog better for the search engines.

1. One target only
Never optimize a page for more than one keyword or a keyword phrase. Focus on one target only and squeez the maximum out of it. If you’re trying to promote guitar lessons, let your page be only about guitar lessons.

2. URL
Websites usualy rank better for a certain keyword if a keyword is part of the domain. Take my blog for example. I don’t promote neither market or federation but I rank #3 in Google for a search term “market federation”. Choose wisely before you start a blog.

3. Image description
When you put pictures in your articles be sure to fill in the ALT text. ALT text is a description of an image and the best for SEO is to stuff it with your keywords of a target you’re trying to promote. Just don’t over do it.

4. W3C Validation
Is your blog W3C compliant? HTML errors can cause your blog to drop in SERPS and you don’t want that to happen over some ignorant errors. Always check your blog for W3C validation to make sure it works properly on all web browsers.

5. Post lentgh
Search engines prefer posts or articles with 500 words at least, the more the better. It’s better to write a decently long article every three days than two liners every day. Give your readers something to read about and your search engines stuff to index.
