iPhone is finally getting Viable

Apple’s recent announcements regarding the status of the new 3g iPhone have been interesting enough to whet the appetite of many fans and potential customers. To further add fuel to this particular fire AT&T have been rumored to be offering a cut-price version of the 3g iPhone in return for new customers taking on a 2 year contract. With the average iPhone user running up a $100 tab each month due to the higher priced data and calling plan, this is a shrewd move that will provide AT&T with excellent profits.

But it must do something to compete as other phones are starting to compete with the 3g iPhone for customers’ attention. AT&T needs to use the momentum and media power of the release of the 3g iPhone to pull lucrative customers away from rivals like Verizon Wireless (VZ), Sprint (S) and T-Mobile (DT).

Predictably AT&T and Apple both refused to comment on this news.

Is Salvia the New Marijuana?

Salvia Divinorum is a hallucinogenic drug that may well be closer to home than you think: it is a member of the sage family and of the flowering Salvia plants that are popular in many homes and gardens.

Little is known about the short- and long-term effects of Salvia Divinorum’s main active ingredient, Salvinorin A, except that it acts in the same way as morphine and other opioids. “The compound” says Dr Roth of Case Western Reserve University “seems to have absolute specificity for a single receptor site on the brain.

Salvia Divinorum is widely available on the Internet for delivery throughout the world and is even available over the counter at some tobacco and specialist shops; it may be known as “Magic Mint,” “Ska Maria Pastora” or “Sally D” and is equally popular with young and old fans.

Despite the fact that Salvia Divinorum occurs naturally there are many who want to ban it and legislators have twice tried (and failed) to get the US Senate to ban the substance.

Unlimited Music Downloads?

Unlimited music downloads. This is the aim of music lovers everywhere. What? It’s no long a dream thanks to Sony? Get away…

A common reaction to the news. But it is news and no longer idle rumor: Sony has teamed up with both We7 and Nokia – in separate deals – so that both services can offer music downloads of Sony’s back catalogue to its customers.

This astonishing news comes at the same time as rumors of a hookup between 24-7 Entertainment and a Nordic provider (as well as further rumors of a join between them and some UK providers). The news of Nester’s potential revival thanks to talks with O2 and Vodafone – possibly to offer unlimited music downloads to their customers – cannot be ignored.

Good times are here. Music downloads are here and, if such huge names are jumping into bed with one another, it seems like they are here to stay.

What others are saying:
Music downloads will surpass CD sales in four years
Music downloads from We7

iPhone Downloads will eventually become free

Europeans everywhere will rejoice at the news of Apple’s decision to ship the iPhone downloads create problems to their shores. Well, not all Europeans will rejoice. And indeed some might just be pleased rather than in a particularly rejoicing mood. But it’s true; Apple has been in talks with service providers in the UK, Germany and France over who best to help it sell the iPhone downloads are available for free.

To add to the iPhone downloads are free and fun to watchexcitement – this is general excitement not particularly centered on Europe – Apple may just be about to launch its newest version of the iPod Nano. Pictures of the tiny device were leaked to a website recently and, despite the pictures being very poor quality and showing very little at all, caused enough panic at the Apple camp to warrant them getting their lawyers in on the action. This isn’t news of tips to find the top service for iPhone proportions but it will be interesting to see what Apple has in store for the Nano.

Ares P2P, Ares V, or Ares Greek God

The Ares P2P filesharing system includes support for the BitTorrent protocol, is accessible behind firewalls, and is the only P2P filesharing system that can be used reliably (usually) behind University and College networks. Where does the name come from?

Ares was a Greek God of terrifying proportions. His name actually came to mean warlike in Classical times, and he was actually disliked by the Greek Gods because he was too warlike (and when you think about how violet those Gods and Goddesses were, that is quite the feat). Although Ares was a God his nasty nature meant he wasn’t liked enough to warrant putting him in much of the mythology (and even then only as the bad guy). Those crazy Spartans absolutely loved him, though, as anyone who has seen the film 300 will appreciate.

But the makers of Ares software were not the first people to use the Ares name: NASA have used it for one of their rockets, too. The Ares rocket is a big hulking thing capable of lifting 130 metric tons into low earth orbit. Wow.

Salvia the new fad?

Salvia divinorum is native to Mexico and is grown there quite legally. It can be smoked, chewed, and even brewed into a refreshing tea. It is reportedly stronger than marijuana and has effects similar to LCD and PCP. The interesting part? Salvia is entirely legal in most U.S. states.

But the legality that the hallucinogen enjoys is being threatened on a grand scale with more and more state legislators seeing its banning as the source of valuable political points. Salvia’s effects last for little over an hour and it is not known to have ever caused any deaths. It does impair judgment and driving ability, though.

People are claiming that the legislative reaction to Salvia is overblown and completely out of proportion with the danger it poses. One of these defendants of Salvia’s legality claims that the “move to criminalize is a misguided response to a very minimal problem”. Still, it’s not all about what is a problem or not, but only that the legislators are doing what the voters want them to do: ‘Right’ and ‘Wrong’ do not necessarily play a part.

Home Based Business

Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow rich is an excellent book for people who, well, this is obvious really, want to Think and Grow Rich. I didn’t realize how much I needed a book like this until I’d read through it and fully digested what it was it had to say. I was dubious at first (never being a true believer of the self-help, self-awareness genre, I tended to dismiss the whole self-improvement mindset) and it took a little jolt for me to really get going. Need a hand? Read chapter 11, “The Mystery of Sex Transmutation: The Tenth Step Towards Riches” first.

After reading chapter 11 I managed to finish the rest of Think and Grow Rich within two days. It really is a great book for those with the right mindset but it took me a while to realize that I was one of those that it could help.

I haven’t looked back since I read the book and, in fact, I’ve re-read it since then on a number of occasions. Think and Grow Rich is a book I definitely would (and do) recommend.

iPhone apps with a Download Bug

The sheer number and variety of iPhone downloads currently available is enough to low anyone’s mind. Why the sudden increase? Because the iPhone can do some much more than other mobile devices have been able to: games, videos, music, almost anything that a ‘normal’ computer can, but at a fraction of the size and at least ten times the sexiness.

Finding the right iPhone downloads can often be a daunting task – not only because of the sheer numbers available but also because of the unfortunate number of dodgy sites out there – and it makes sense to scout around thoroughly before choosing on a download provider. Bigger sites like iTunes offer iPhone downloads by the shedload, but they may well be a little more expensive than some of the other offerings (though it’s usually true, at least to some extent, that you get what you pay for).

The future is here, the future is iPhone downloads.
